Major thread revival but...
While not a roadster, I did change the OEM airbox on my GT-R to an induction kit and did my research before choosing.
I spent a considerable amount of time searching the web and talking to guys in my car club to get their real world experience. We even did a long distance test after a fresh oil change before we did a group buy on filters.
Anyway, stay the heck away from FOAM!
In the research we also found this site which is fairly informative and if it is on the web it must be true. http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/filters_test/2/

I think it would depend on how much surface area the foam has, the ITG is alot bigger than a mushroom.

I suppose you are talking about density of foam and not the actual size of the overall filter itself???dbrick wrote:I think it would depend on how much surface area the foam has, the ITG is alot bigger than a mushroom.
In that case, greater density will add more restriction. A piece of plywood over the intake would make a great filter if not for the lack of air flow.

From what I can tell, I would stay away from foam regardless of the surface area but to each his own.

So, I'm guessing you're not gonna apply for a job as a K&N Salesman.MyGTR wrote:dbrick wrote:From what I can tell, I would stay away from foam regardless of the surface area but to each his own.

Hmmmm, must've been another brand of light green foam I was oiling some thirty odd years ago. My bad.... [insert emoticon of hitting oneself on head with hammer]
