Do You have key #????

Post by eastmedia »

Here's an interesting thought.

I am missing the door, trunk, and console keys for one of my cars. (Never had them to begin with).

Before trying to track down a locksmith who has the blanks and the codes, I was wondering if anyone would be willing to send me a copy of their key if it's the right number.

Maybe we could get a key swap going for anyone missing keys. I have 2 other sets of keys if needed for other locks sets. Our moderator (Steve) could host key numbers available for everyone so it's anonymous for security reasons.

I'm looking for key #302x (last one blank for security reasons.) PM me or post if you have a close number.

Thanks,
Ron

Ron,

I can't help with the key swap, but I have a local locksmith that can cut from the code. Not cheap, but nice! Plus, they have blanks with the correct head shape.

The codes can sometimes be difficult to see if the outer barrel is corroded. A small brass wire brush will clean off the corrosion and keep things crisp enough to read. Some of the ignition locks have the code on the face where the key is inserted as do the gas caps.

What keys did you order? I know there are a couple that fit the datsun, do they have a set that matches original? Will they cut from the lock/key code?

By the way, thanks for the site. This forum has been great for getting hard to find parts andd info. It is appreciated.
