Just so you don't think I'm completely slacking, just mostly, I've got a pair of carb bodies and manifold lined up ready to start modifications.Russell Roach wrote:Keith,
I am still waiting on my carbs and trick manifold, as promised at the mitty, By the way just went through the last of your Dr. Pepper at the races last week.
Cheers

Just curious, what kind of mods?
BTW, took all 6 SU's I had around, mixed and matched and came up with a good set, for now. It's nice to have an idle.

I'll go ahead and finish them anyway. What kind of mods? Things that are pointless unless you are running a full race, 8000RPM+, totally useless on the street motor. It is possible to double the flow of the SU carbs. However, if you don't have an engine that needs it you are wasting your time. The stock carbs with the right needles can keep up with anything you would want to drive on the street.
The last pair of these I did had the initial testing done on my bone stock 1600. I did a bunch of acceleration runs with the GPS. The data was racked and stacked to produce torque curves. The differance between the stock carbs and the modified ones was Zero, None, Zip. They are a true demand carb and the originals are of adequate size for a stock engine.
