what does the bad casting cause? I have a friend that put some on his 280z, something I should warn him about?RC240z wrote: the only one I have been warned about are Konigs because the castings are poor.

14x6 4x114.3mm 4.5"+12mm OffsetWhat offset / backspace will you be getting on your new wheels to suit the roadster?
Backspace of 3.94"
Not sure on the lug nuts. The company I purchased through pulled a set off the shelf and measured that the stud length needed to be just under an inch long. In the past, I used a set of 14x6 Panasports on my 67 2000 and it required longer studs (I think 1.5 inch studs were required). I seem to remember the stock studs were about 1 inch long. Also, are the lugnuts supplied going to be 7/16" and will the stock wheel stud length will be ok to install the wheels?
Couple reasons:Curious why you went with the 14's. I hear that there is much better tire selection in 15's.
1) On my 67 2000 I was real happy with the 14x6 size.
2) Economics. The dealer I purchased from had a smokin' good price on the wheels !!
3) Tires. There are still many 14 inch tire choices. Not as many as the 15s, but plenty, none the less. I'll be using the falken rt-615 195/6014s. I previously ran the rt-215s on my 67 2000 and they were really fantastic tires.
Also, the 14 inch tires are cheaper than 15 inch. I found Falken ziex tires in 195/60/14 for as low as $37 a tire. I purchased my rt-615s for $61 each.
Also curious where you ordered them from and what the cost was
Before folks go out running to buy these, you may wish to wait a few weeks tull my set arrives and I check out whether they actually fit correctly (or not) . I purchased from Pack Racing Products.
They are running a special on them. A set of Four rims, with lug nuts, valve stem and caps was only $460. They only have about 10-11 sets left at this price. Get them via ebay:

Poor castings on a street car is less of a factor as we push our cars on the track much harder than what most would do on the street. We look for strong, light wheels. Konigs, while they are very light the castings are not a good a quality and are prone to crack or break under extreme hard use.what does the bad casting cause? I have a friend that put some on his 280z, something I should warn him about?
The quality of the castings have to do with the amount of air in the castings themselves and quality of material used for the castings. In this case the Konig's are cheap so you get what you pay for.
Again, I think they are fine for the street, but not on a track.

Have you run the rewinds?! Just what are you basing your opion/comments on?
I have run the konig rewinds for the last three seasons and unfortunately have bounced them off a couple of curbs. I have never had a problem with any of the three sets I have.
Didn't just buy the for the price like the look also. Just curious

Hi Russell,
No offense taken. I don't know anyone directly, but have heard from others indirectly.
I am glad to hear that you have not had an issue with yours.
I was instructed to stay away from them at the time that I was shopping for race wheels from people I consider in the know, at the time I was choosing wheels for my race car, and several of us on the west coast are leary of Konigs although I too like the look of them...

If anyone wants the charcoal metallic look, DupliColor sells really nice wheel paint in a few shades to refurbish old wheels or recoat new ones.

The Superlies Arrived today. Pack Racing did a great shop packaging and shipping the rims. Each rim came with its own Wheel sock which has prevent sratching of the front of the rim. I prfer the chrome style caps on the Superlites versus the plastic black center caps which I had on my old panasports.
The caps also included a pretty cool vintage style emblem sticker. Also, the set came with chromed 7/16 lugs.

They look REALLY nice. Won't be able to test fit/mount them for a few more days.
