Special thanks to the Forum members who provided me with useful advice on replacing the exhaust system on my wife's 67.5 1600.
As recommended, I did purchase the beautiful stainless system from Jim Tyler at Datsun Restoration Products. The components are awesome and everything fit perfectly.
While removing the intake manifold, I noticed that the cooling system was in need of some serious attention, so I replaced the water pump, all the hoses, and a few water fittings.
Here is my blog post about the project, in case anyone is interested!

Re: Exhaust System Installation
Looks great!
Interesting issue with the water pump stud ... Curious why not replace the stud instead of milling down the water pump again to fit the stud?

Re: Exhaust System Installation
Regarding the stud, either way will work. (we sell earlier pumps for the short studs too). The only reason not to swap the stud is that on those very early blocks, sometimes the studs are so badly rusted in place that they break during a removal attempt. That can be a real chore to fix with the engine still assembled and in the car. So not replacing the stud is certainly the safer option.Stick wrote: Fri Apr 25, 2025 4:58 pm Looks great!
