Removing the fenders
Hi all,
So I have started to remove the fenders on my 67 as mysomeone put earlier 1500 fenders on it and I wanna go back to what is correct for the year. Right now, I am stuck on getting the turn signal out. It looks like I have to clip the wires. It doesn’t seem to have a quicker release connector like the headlights do so just wanting to confirm that with people if that is what I need to do and then splice them back together after I get the new fender on.
The first picture is upside down, but shows where the turn signal wires come through the body and the second picture is also rotated badly but is what is under the hood. It looks like someone has already spliced the wires previously in this position so I don’t think I’m gonna be able to do it under the hood and will rather have to do it in the fender well.
Any help would be much appreciated.

The Parking / Turn signal lights terminate with bullet connectors if undisturbed OEM. So yes, the connection would be the connectors in (Pic. No 2) Cut off those three sheaths to expose the terminals.

Here’s a little more closeup.
One of the connectors in the engine bay looks solid and the others might be bullet connectors. I don’t have a lot of room to work where the current splices are so I was going to make my own bullet plugs in the fender well and heat shrink them when I have it back together.
Is there a source for new signals/rubber?

as DAC21 says those are the OEM sheaths. Actually they are clear and will clean up nicely and protect the new bullet connections. Mineral spirits will take off the old paint and undercoating. The female ends will be in the sheaths all ready to go!

Clean them up and then grab the male bullet with some needlenose pliars. Pull it out while holding the other side with regular pliars or hand. You might have to wiggle a bit.

One of them is not a bullet connector though. It is solid from what I can tell.

Thanks, everyone I was able to get the bullet connectors disconnected after a little bit of WD-40 and some wiggling. I would’ve bet hard earned money that connector in the middle was some weird solid connector that wouldn’t be undone. Just goes to show you don’t know everything you think
I will need to clean up the wires on the loom as they have been sprayed over a bit and I want to make sure that the correct ones go back in the correct places

Got my new fender painted and it looks great. The match is close enough until I get the whole car done at some point.

Strip that crap right off and make sure the panel underneath is cleaned, primed and painted to protect it.
I used a silicon SEALANT between the body and guard to seal the joint.

Got some good weather this weekend and cleaned up the fender mounting area and gave it a few new coats of paint. We’ll let that dry for a couple days then mount the fender. Got some nice new shiny stainless steel screws and bolts for all of it too.

New fender finally on!! It was kind of a pain to get all lined up but I got it. Only thing now is the hood is barely hitting it in the front so I will have to look if I can adjust that at all but might wait to do that until the new passenger fender is on too.
