Toyota door stops?
I recall reading a thread several years ago that I can't find now about getting junkyard door stops out of a toyota something to replace the stockers. I picked up a set years ago, and now am ready to go back in and wondered if this is a good thing or not, and what it takes to make them work. My search only found a reference to it asking if someone else had done it, but nothing describing how it was done. This pic shows stock and the toyota stops I got. Anybody know anything about this mod and what if anything needs to be done to the toyotas since they're different size than the stock datsun. Alternative is to go get these stockers plated and get new rubber. Thanks for any thoughts from those that might have done this.

Thanks much for the link. Can you share your thoughts on why this is better than redoing the stockers? I'm not sure if this was just a mod for those that had damaged stock ones or whether this has some other advantage. Appreciate your perspective since you did the swap.

Re: Toyota door stops?
As I recall, my rebuilt originals were still a bit rattley and pulled pretty hard at the mounting points on the door and A pillar. With the newer Toyota pieces, The door action is much smoother and door opening distance was easy to adjust by cutting length off at the pivot/foot end. Load at the mount points on door and A pillar can be spread out with metal backing plates behind those points reducing metal fatigue. Hope that helps.GoldHawg wrote: Wed Mar 26, 2025 5:56 am Thanks much for the link. Can you share your thoughts on why this is better than redoing the stockers? Re: Toyota door stops?
It’s been a while since I “engineered” the swap to Toyota limiters. It was necessary because previous owner had bodywork done and door pillar locations were welded over by body shop.
I was able to use original location on door and pillar to mount the limiters. It appears that Devo mounted his above original mounting points, which is a good alternative.
I’m away from my car for a couple of weeks, can take some pics and offer input later if you are interested in the process.
They have worked great.
