Coworker just gave me a free sr20det… so it begins!

Post by axialflow »

My ‘1600 has been running fairly well the last couple years I’ve had it. Never driven it far, only been stranded(sorta) once; brakes leaked out, though I limped it home with just the parking brake and downshifting.

Always shown interest in an sr swap and yesterday my friend from work came by and dropped off a red top!

The short of it is he has a couple MGs, one of which is completely modded and had an SR20det in. He got a wild hair on his ass that he wanted 400+ hp, found a built s13.5 sr20det, and bought it, not leaving him with an extra one that he felt I should have for my roadster.

I don’t even know where to begin, other than buying a whiteboard for the garage finally lol.

I’m open to all the advise, and criticism!

Congratulations-- let us know how we can help-- we have motor mounts, alternator conversion kits, big brake kits, and other products to help make your SR20DET swap easier. We have been putting SR's into Datsun Roadsters since the late 90s.

Oh man, now that’s a good friend. A redtop SR20DET drop-off is basically the Nissan guy version of “I love you, bro”

Your ‘1600 is about to level up big time! That’s a great motor choice for the roadster—lightweight, rev-happy, tons of aftermarket support, roller bearings at https://en.tradebearings.com/clist_49.html, and it fits the spirit of the car perfectly while waking it the hell up.
