Greg, very fortunate you & your "baby" are unscathed, very sorry about the BMW.
FWIW, In my KA 510 - trunk mount, new bat and trickle charged. A spirited 1hr drive and it was boiling. My colleague an Audi mechanic pushed me aside gloved and goggled, literally threw it into the yard fearing explosion---from experience. I blamed the charger. Turned out - it was a bad (admittedly cheap) battery, he'd experienced a run of them. Consider Ridgeline, I'm on my 2nd, first went 300K---both zero issues.

Dang! Been occupied for a while and shocked when I read this ... Sorry to hear, Greg.

I just had my BMW on a charger for the better part of today and just unhooked it less than an hour ago! Making me think twice about leaving it unattended.

Glad everyone and everything else was ok.
