Re: New Clutch will not disenguage HELP!
Just an update to let you all know that after I got it all back together the clutch is working, all gears engage and I am now sorting out the running and rolling roadster. Thank you all for your guidance and help.

Re: New Clutch will not disenguage HELP!
Could you look at the back of the front cover, of your Roaster Book Part II, at the bottom of the page, and tell us the copyright date ? I bought my books, Parts I & II in 2006 (both Copyrighted 1987-2006), and the Page numbers 53 & 188 in my book, you are referencing in Part II, do not refer to anything relating to the clutch. Adding to that, I actually couldn't find ANY written reference, or diagram, to the clutch assembly in my Part II Book. However, I did find a diagram showing the disk hub protrusion facing rearward (toward the pressure plate / transmission) on Page 200 of the Roadster Book Part I (ONE), and written information about the clutch on Pages 203 & 204 (also in Part ONE Book). I'm not trying to stir anything up, but only want to clarify in my own mind, if I need updated information, or books.roadsterdude1600 wrote: Wed Nov 27, 2024 12:29 pm When I insdtalled it I followed the directions on page 53 of the Roadster Book Part II "Be sure that the extended (longest) portion of the clutch disc center hub faces the flywheel". However the picture on page 188 of boiok I shows the extended portion facing the pressure plate (clutch cover).
Thanks, Mike

"<page 53 of the Roadster Book Part II "Be sure that the extended (longest) portion of the clutch disc center hub faces the flywheel". However the picture on page 188 of boiok I shows the extended portion facing the pressure plate (clutch cover).> "
This is at the top of page 60 in the book I have (part II).....don't see any picture of the clutch disc anywhere....page 188 is a picture of the 1969 owners manual.
I did find, on pages 319 to 324, a bulletin on combustion chamber and valve angle modifications.....I would not recommend following step one, just get new seats properly installed.

Re: New Clutch will not disenguage HELP!
Thanks, for that info, Daryl. I found the same pages in my Book Part II, and on Page 60, I have corrected the sentence to read "facing the TRANSMISSION", instead of the flywheel.
Thanks again,
Mike

Re: New Clutch will not disenguage HELP!
Yes, there are various copyright dated books out there and there are differences. The version I quoted from above is 1987-2010. The erroneous quote about the clutch disc is on P 53 of Part II. However I have another copy 1987-2007 where that quote is on page 60, so it will vary. This is in "Reassembly of the R16 Engine" near the end (Use a clutch alignment tool......). It reads the same in both books at different pages. The Clutch diagram is in Book I page 188 in the 2010 book and page 200 of the 2007 book. Sorry for the confusion. The correct answer will begin with "It all depends..."
Thanks to all for your help.I will always remember the correct clutch disc orientation.
