vQ35de Connecting rods stroker 1600

All,

I know this has been beaten to death, but I am looking at building a r16 stroker for track day use, high rpm. It looks like I can use aftermarket h-beam VQ35DE connecting rods. Side clearance at the crank will be .31". I will use custom pistons. The r16 head has been heavily ported, big valves etc.. a racing head. Compression will be @ 13:1. Cam could be either Isky dr-77 or dr-99. This looks like something that has probably been done before. Probably in a u20 for road racing. Anyone have experience with this rod in a U20 or H20 build?

Looks like that rod is the right length at 144 mm for the U20 pistons, don't know about the other dimensions offhand....BUT....
If you are going to build a stroker for high rpm use, a 6" rod might work better, if you get a lighter piston (stock R16 and U20 pistons are very heavy) to work with it.
Both the longer rod and the lighter components will reduce vibrations and stress on the bearings, while giving you better acceleration at the same time.....ymmv...

I don't know if he will reveal his secrets, but you could try contacting Dave Rebello. He builds R16 strokers using an offset ground 2000 crank and connecting rods and pistons from a late-model Nissan engine, VQ35 IIRC. Mine came out to 2155cc, revs willingly, and rips pretty hard.

Look here for rods. I bought a set of the alloy rods but haven't used them. Built a 3 main 1800 stroker.
