Hi all…
I have turned a huge corner that I have been anticipating and dreading at the same time.
I am now pretty much in the reassembly phase… Which is very exciting.
However, after four years, I don’t remember a whole lot about what I took apart and what parts go where and which parts go with what… and time and distance from my car has resulted in disorganization… So…
For example, I am re-installing the front brakes that I restored. I have the little brass connector “CONNECTOR-FRONT BRAKE HOSE TO TUBE” and don’t know which bolts are the correct fasteners.
Of course you guys could tell me which bolt it is… However, I am certain I am going to have 1000 of these questions, and it is ridiculous to ask every time I have a question.
Therefore what I would really love is to know how the heck can I look at car parts manual And find out the specs of that bolt and or fastener, etc.
I can find a part number. But how do I find the specs of that part number?
Can anyone help me figure out that workflow?
In the meantime, because I really want to finish the front brake install, does anyone know if this bolt with lock washer is correct? And same bolt with flat washer - what might that be for?
I think these bolts are 5/16 X 18?
Thank you in advance, I appreciate it,
Peter

The original Datsun printed Parts Manuals give a breakdown of the OEM part numbers for fasteners

Nissanman, just trying to help.

Re: Help identifying and getting specs of fasteners
Thanks guys.
Curtis’s list is amazing as usual.
And I am able to find part numbers at carpartsmanual.com and in the printed manual…
But what I would really love is a way to translate the part number of a fastener into a specification.
For example part number 1234-5678 is 3/8"-24 x 1 1/4" bolt.
That is my dream.
I did find some great info in the tech wiki, but was just hoping against hope that something already existed somewhere.
Thanks to Curtis and everyone else who puts in the work to create these tools.
Thanks again.

I'm with ya on the cross reference between p/n and bolt/fastener specs..... I think that would be everyone's dream!
