My 1966 jack is near the left quarter panel. VIN # 1139.

Doubt we’ll ever see anything definitive, but I’d assume that anything that came with a canister style oil filter and jack in the quarter panel (either or), was likely a very early example and probably produced in 1965. Even the 240Z had significant overlap with cars being built 5 months before the official model year (and better supporting documentation). It’s not unreasonable to think the roadster production did much of the same.
