All right guys we are new to the datsun club, my son is building his first car and we have some questions.
What's the best and most affordable way to put disk brakes on the front?
Can we adapt to a 5 bolt wheel pattern without using adapters?
Has anyone used a different rear differential?

Re: Brakes
Welcome, your son is a lucky guy!
So you have a drum brake 1500? All the rest have front disks already, so assuming this might be the case.
Changing bolt patterns involves adapters, I know of no other way to do this.
The 1600's came with a 3.9 rear end, the 2L's came with a 3.7. There is an RX7 rear end swap that yields rear disks and LSD, but it has to be narrowed and there is other work to be done. (as expected, the expert can weigh in on that)

Re: Brakes
The easiest way to upgrade to disks is to use the front suspension/brakes from a scrapped 1600. Super easy 8 bolts or so to do the swap. But you can't run 13" wheels (original) you'll need to run 14"
For the rear you can buy different ring and pinion gears to change the gear ratio. Next down would be a 4.11 or you could go up to 3.70 (much easier to find)
