On an early, low windshiedl car, the top of the door weatherstripping fits over a "flange" attached to the windshield frame. The top of that flange is angled plus there's a hole.
.
.
1. Should the end of the weatherstripping be trimmed to match the bevel?
2. Should a small sheet metal screw go into that hole to hold the top of the weatherstripping?
Thanks.

Re: Top of door weatherstripping
The weather strip is bonded to the rear edge of that steel trim but doesn't go any where near the angled section.
You can see that it wraps around the leading edge of the strip.
The weather strip overlaps the leading edge of the window frame of the door to provide a weather seal.
The little hole in the metal strip is, I believe, where the tension wire that is fitted to the soft top around the window opening, is anchored.
My soft top doesn't have the tension wire fitted and I don't think many after market tops have it.

Yes, I know about that piece. That's not what I'm referring to. I'm talking about the weatherstripping for the door.Nissanman wrote: Fri Aug 09, 2024 8:20 pm The weather strip is bonded to the rear edge of that steel trim but doesn't go any where near the angled section.

OK, the weather strip mounted to the "A" pillar stops just above the bottom of the windshield strip like so: -

I have just looked at my "before" photos and I see that the original strip went all the way up to the top of the "A" pillar! You've got me thinking now!
From memory, I don't think that rubber was long enough to go any further up the "A" pillar than shown

No, we made that same mistake. Had to order another kit from DatsunParts.com (Item #1420 or #2605 if you want the pillar caps).Nissanman wrote: Fri Aug 09, 2024 8:54 pm OK, the weather strip mounted to the "A" pillar stops just above the bottom of the windshield strip like so: -

Re: Top of door weatherstripping
That hole was for a split rivet that held the weatherstripping in place. IIRC, Dann at Rallye suggested that the original weatherstripping was applied with tension and that is why if you just put it on it seems short.

Re: Top of door weatherstripping
I checked my 66 and it does go all the way up to the rivet as suggested.
