Sunday the Edmonton Z car club got together for a 200 km / 125 mile drive out on country roads west of Edmonton , Alberta. 14 cars showed up to take in the country jaunt. Two roadsters, a few 350 Z’s, one 260z, one 240z, a few 370z, and a bunch of 300zx’s. Poured on the final leg of the drive, resulting in us roadster folk wishing for a roof. Ya we could have pulled over and pulled the roofs up….but hey what’s the fun in that. I think I even got a few hail chucks smashing into my face….us northern folk are a hardy bunch…or dumb.
In the end, over a round of beer and wings, fun was had by all.

If you drive fast enough and don't have to stop, the rain just flies over! My wife and I discovered that in the north cascades a few years back!

I'm visiting my 92 yr old dad (lives with my sister and her husband in Maui... darn it! ). He's gotten into watching police chase videos on YouTube and we have spent a few hours cringing at some of these chases. Talk about not stopping for red lights, or anything else for that matter! After getting hit by a guy head on about a year and a half ago (stolen car, high on drugs, 60-90mph per police estimate, not being pursued) I find myself hoping that they PIT the car, that the driver runs and the canine unit is released for puppy chow time! As much as I hate speeding tickets and enjoy spirited driving, I have renewed respect for police officers who are able to restrain themselves from just punching the crap out of these jackasses... I want to, and I'm not a violent person!

I've learned two things: 1) just pull the %#$& over and RESPECTFULLY accept your medicine! and 2) if you hear/see lights and sirens, hold your position if it's a chase unless it's CLEARLY safe to move, especially on the freeway so they can drive around you. We were watching one from this time last year when I started to recognize some landmarks and realized it was exactly where I drive to work. They ended up executing a PIT on this violent armed criminal where he spun out and started a fire on the side of I5 that burned his car and a patrol vehicle (hot catalytic converter).

Spring drive Roadster content: Be vigilant, watch intersections, and carry a fire extinguisher! Better to get a little wet! Be safe all!

Just so we are clear everyone…no stop lights or stop signs were ever run, in the posting of this thread …or any other time. Drive safe all.
