Is that battery hold down bracket off a Sentra, Integra, Honda ?

It's the Dorman 60348, for Honda. The bolts in the package are too short for the inside (closest to engine) so I had to grab a 10" set from the auto parts store.

Looks great, and a smaller footprint too? I just had to replace my Optima red top after many years but mine is mounted in the trunk now, otherwise would certainly consider that one... it has the right name on it eh? :D
Yep! That was the clincher. I was looking for an AGM version but when I popped this in the cart at a local dealer website, the price dropped to $120. Plenty happy to pay half of what I was expecting. I am amazed however, at how hard it is to find a reasonably priced plastic tray for it. My old one was cracked so I cut it down to size and added a battery pad.

Honda among others use the 51R. I bought a used prelude tray I think it was off ebay. Cut the part sticking out on the bottom off.
66 stroker, almost done.
67 basket case, paint coming soon.

Pulled the motor and separated the transmission. Getting ready to install a new clutch, pressure plate, lightened flywheel and header - all from JT at Datsun Restoration Products. The clutch was slipping last summer and fall so I thought I would add a couple of upgrades while the motor was out.

I think you're going to really like the light flywheel package. When your work is finished, and you go for that first drive, please let us know what you think about it !

Pretty sure this is the one for the group 51 battery, cut off the two nubs.

Getting ready for the return of my car from paint so prep work continues.

As everyone who has ever tried to take the water pump back plate screws out they don't want to come out and often the heads strip out. Another thing I'd like to reach back through time and slap some engineer for.

So I decided to make my own out of stainless. Early 1600 cast iron pump is 1/4-28 thread. Tried a phillips head and there is not enough left for a screw driver. Slotted it and it works. Looking at it I figured hex head would work. Went to not so Ace Hardware and of course no stainless. Got some black oxide to try. Using the belt sander I turned it down and sanded the head to sit in the countersink. Works okay.

I then realized since I hadn't paid any attention to it before that the screws are above the block and have a gap between the head and the pump. So I made one with some head left on it and the same diameter as the original. Works perfect. Later pumps use 6mm and you can do the same with it. The ones with the 1 inch spacer you can probably leave the full height head.

Was looking at pricing for RS Watanabe wheels and they are stupidly expensive, so to get the look I want, I decided to clean up and paint the Minilite knockoffs that came with Red 67.5.

Polished the lip and painted the spokes... however the wheel paint isn't bonding well to the metal. Will try another with an acid-etch primer to promote adhesion:

I put in 4 speakers this week. Could have made 6 work, but that might be overkill. Putting the Bluetooth amp in next.
