Stout "U' Shaped Wire

Post by g12080 »

I believe this is from the parcel shelf of my low windshield 1967 1600, as there appears to be upholstery glue residue on the ends of the legs.
Leg Length = 32"
Base Length (bottom of "U") = 30.25"
Wire Diameter = 0.15"
Corner Radius = 1"

Thanks,
Jack

Not sure if you are asking "what's this for"? If so, you might know, this scale wire was used around the perimeter of seat cushions and backs to reinforce the fabric/vinyl (usually placed inside a tight sleeve at the edges) so it took the tension of the hog rings and prevent tearing.

Thank you for your response. Yes, I am wondering what this part is for (sorry for not posting that), but at 32" (81.3cm) X 30.25" (76.8cm) it is too large to be a seat component. It may be that this is not a part that originally came with my 1967 1600, as the previous owner had done some interior modifications.

New photo with tape measure added for scale. Dark arrows are foot measurements.
