Black is the cockpit surround on your car, and bare metal is the base strap of the hardtop?
If so, then thru bolt it for the trip home.
Measure how long with a toothpick or pencil, then get a bolt, eye bolt, or anything with threads.
Add a bunch of washers on bottom if you want.
I met at least one couple at Solvang who had been driving for years with only back latches on their hardtop.
