Rallye Enterprises, LTD

Post by S Allen »

Even though Rallye has ceased to provide reliable parts service, the website still has a wealth of information which is invaluable in itself. I am providing the link to the website here and making it a sticky. I only wish them well and have no clue what has happened as they used to be my go to vendor.

I'm thinking, like all of us, that age is catching up... I was 22 when I first WROTE A LETTER to Rallye, and I'll be 60 this year... damn it...

Spring chicken! I just turned 73 and I'm finding it harder and harder to get in and out of my Fairlady
I too have purchased from Rallye, sad that it appears an era is over :(

The valuable Rallye website is backed up by the Wayback machine. web.archive.org
A great service, well worth a small infrequent donation.

Steve, add this link to our Wiki.
Even 311s.org is backed up.!

Will do. Link to Wayback Machine is located in the Archives Section in the tech wiki.

Has anyone been able to talk to the Rallye proprietor? Perhaps someone could work out a deal to take over the operation and inventory.

Hey Steve, Acknowledging and posting the Parts Catalog is fantastic, thank you. His accompanying narrative for each part is/has-been an education for many of us. Thanks TED (& Steve) for the wayback and wiki save.

FWIW, I've tried contacting Dann and his wife for about a year or so recently with phone and email. She was the last person I spoke with. I placed an order, waited several months, then out-of-the-blue she called. She processed the transaction like usual (albeit slow---- was normal from my experience). About a month later, striking while the iron was warm, I tried again and nothing -----ever again, silence. As noted, shockingly their web site is still up???!!

I did some (amateur) public-access web searches for their property (if it had been sold) and (sadly) obituaries. (I exchanged notes with Greg2000, since he's somewhat near-by but he's also not sure). I did find it seems the business might still be in a WA temporary hold, not quite registered, but not quite up-to-date. And, might be in a different name of (perhaps) a child or fiduciary?

I'm 2-3 hours from their shop & side yard (looks-to-be almost an acre of space for parts outside the building, within the fence) which seems to still be intact (they are listed as owners). Several us here in Oregon have considered driving up to see if anything can be learned from standing at the door, but have not done so to-date.

I used to live about 10 minutes away... now about 20, though they may have moved the shop (?)... Maybe I'll take a drive out...

??? This thread is about how they’re not doing business anymore. No clue how you got it backwards?

Well, there is some good news. The Wayback Machine seems to have a complete copy.

Thank you for doing this. I have some good memories of Rallye.

Back in the stoneage, or BG (before Google) that catalog - which he charged for, $3 as I recall - and him were the only lifelines I had for parts and advise. He helped me over the phone (broken cam, running on 3 cylinders, amazingly no other damage, took him 30 seconds to diagnose correctly which amazed me), told me why (I didn't check the cam journals for alignment after repairing the warped head...Oops!) and then sold me the parts to fix it.

I used to absolutely pour over that thing, like a kid looking at the Sears Christmas catalog - Remember those??) saved and pined and waited for his annual sale, carefully writing part numbers in the green form, posting it in the mail (with a check!) and then waiting excitedly for them to arrive. I believed him then about how hard it was to get those parts and the crazy rarity of some things, so I also started hoarding parts, some of which I have put on the car and some of which I still have. In that regard, I guess some things haven't changed, not yet anyway. Ha!

As a friend once quipped to me, "Change is inevitable, Growth is optional".

I started doing business with Rallye in about 91. I bought front brake calipers from them for about $40 each, should have purchased about 500 spare ones! I'm 76 now and am really glad that there are as many sources for parts, as well as those that have come and gone over the years but Rallye was the first I knew about.
