The hood closes, and nothing hangs lower than the frame. Not so tall after all!

Next up is motor mounts, it's just blocked in position for the photo.

I hope I'm up for loads of metal work too because I just found this under the cowl.

Mike, that will be a quick and easy job to cut the rusty metal out and weld new in once you saw out the spot welds holding the cowl to the firewall and the inner fenders.

Thanks, I'll give that a shot.

In the meanwhile, mounts are happening.

My engine hoist is occupied with another job so I started tinkering with another idea. I cut some width out of it already and will be cutting some height out of the middle as well.

Still a little more tweaking to do but I like the look so far.

Update. The project isn't dead but it's changing directions. The Ecoboost is going into a 66 Bronco and I'm going to look for a SR20 or K24 for the Datsun.

Hey Mike, I'm curious what caused the switch from the EcoBoost to one of the more standard motor swaps? I've been thinking about the EcoBoost as a crazier swap option but if you hit a roadblock that makes it a bad idea I'd love to know!

No road blocks, it was still very completable and I might still find another 2.0 or 2.3 ecoboost for it depending how things shake out. I just want the Bronco done more right now.

Looks like Ecoboost is back on the menu, I scored another prepped standalone harness/ecu yesterday.
