Flex-Form springs closed - Alternatives?

Post by rbhenderson »

I believe it's been said elsewhere but figured it was worth its own thread and I couldn't find one already started. Flex-Form (Flexform? Flex Form?) springs has closed... This was the most definitive thing I could find related to their closing online: https://www.epaosc.org/site/site_profil ... te_id=7035 Not sure who is still keep their website paid for an hosted. If anyone has current contact info for them I'd be interested in getting it, I'm curious to see about purchasing their IP and tooling. It looks like they served a wide range of clientele, seems like it might be an interesting side business.

Most importantly for all of us here - has anyone found a good alternative for composite springs? I see a few potential companies but nothing that looks like it would work right off the bat... Van steel seems to be the closest, I'm going to call them tomorrow to see what capabilities they have for making lighter weight springs. Hyperco has some springs that could possibly be adapted depending on geometry, I haven't done the digging yet to figure out if that's an option.

Thanks everyone!

That's a bummer... Glad I got mine years ago. Regarding options, some folks were running a modified Volvo mono-leaf spring as I recall.
Also, check with JT68 as I believe he was working on or had some Flex-form based kits. The REAL secret however are the Bilsteins... oops, see I already said that to you!

???!!!
Yep, site is still up, so far I haven't heard from back from them. I did just figure out - the EPA link in my original post is connected to the original owner George, I believe Mark is/was the new owner. Maybe they are still around, I would love to be wrong!

Last reference I could find on the forum is that @funkaholik tried to get in touch with them last year: viewtopic.php?p=336861#p336861

@Gregs672000 I'll get in touch with @JT68. He doesn't have any rear springs listed on his site but who knows what he has stashed away. He also may be able to shed more light on Flex-Forms status.

Just confirmed with JT68 - they were unable to get more of the composite springs so I'm going to take that as confirmation that Flex-Form is no longer operating. I'm going to pursue other options in my spare time, will update as I make progress.

I think that Santa needs to deliver a set to me as well this year. Please keep us in the loop as you find alternatives!

Too bad, I've been very happy with mine. Search the site for past spring postings and I'm sure you'll locate info on the Volvo momo-leaf... I think Will runs a set...

I’m running Volvo monoleafs on one of my cars with JTs Bilsteins and I like the ride and performance. I was hoping to try the composite flex forms on another car so this is bad news. The Volvo 360 springs are very hard to find especially in the States. I was fortunate to buy a set from a guy in Florida who had them shipped from Oz but decided to go a different direction.

I’ve heard about the Volvo springs but haven’t seen any pics of them. They seem to have all disappeared off the interwebs… Can you snap some and post them at some point? Seemed like someone was trying to duplicate them at some point but it never got completed.
