67.5 new sun visor install

Post by vorpal »

Hey all,

Mounting up a new set of sun visors on my 67.5 1600.

So I have a set of new sun visors from Ross @ Sports Imports and a set of mounting hardware center and end rods from forum member tjp (tip of the hat to both!)

Now, I'm looking at the new visors and they have no openings cut for the rods to mount. I trimmed off one of the top ends to slide the rod in but it's quite large and there it's pushing against the inner material and stretching the vinyl seam of the visor.

Do I drill holes into the visor through the end I've cut to slide the rods in? Does someone have pics of a mounted set?

Thanks,
Rob

Did you ask Ross? He’s always good with information with me.

I was thinking about putting visors on my 67.5 but I’m pretty tall & I'm afraid they would be in the way. Someone mentioned that there was a thinner MG visor that fit but I haven’t followed up on that.

This is how mine are on my 67.5. I did not have to drill there should be a clamp type device built into the visor that is supposed to keep the visor from flopping around. I usually have mine flipped up and they stay that way at 60mph.

Update: Figured it out

So I enlarged the hole I cut and opened it up with an awl and found there is a metal sleeve inside.

Got the shafts installed into the visors

Got the visors assembly mounted up onto the windshield frame

adjusted the rod length in the visor so it was in the end bracket

And centered the visors on the rods

just took a little figurin'.

Thanks for the replies
