Shipping a transmission

I was wondering if there are some recommendations on shipping a transmission cross country. AZ to OH. It will fit in a large plastic tub. I did something similar a few years ago and used Fastenal but was looking for other ideas. Thanks in advance.

I have tied a 4 speed down onto a small pallet using heavy gauge wire.
The shipping company doubled up with steel strapping at no extra charge.
All worked wonderfully well

Greyhound is how I have shipped them in the past.

I've used Conway trucking they have a lift gate and deliver to a residence.

I got a big rubber tub and a piece of 2x12. I cut the 2x12 to support the transmission in the tub with bolts going through the side of the tub and bolts through the transmission mount. I also supported the front using bell housing bolts through the 2x12 pieces. I put the top on, zip tied it and hold the whole mess to FedEx and shipped it that way. The buyer was extremely happy with the shipping it arrived with no damage and it was easy to carry it.

I just checked the greyhound site and it says they are no longer doing shipping?
If I'm wrong or there is another way let me know.
You might look at UBID. Where you post what you want and shippers can bid to deliver your item.
Hopefully you randomly find someone going your way for a good price?

Second to David Premo's suggestion. FedEx ground is how I've shipped them.

A word of caution when shipping a used part with a motor freight company such as FedEx. If your part is lost or damaged (and it happens way more than you would think) you may receive penny’s on the dollar of its worth. They will apply an RVNX (released value not to exceed) X-cents per pound. When I retired 6 years ago it was 10 or 20 cents per pound. You can of course pay more for better coverage.
Also a good tip to follow is to tape, write, or somehow attach a tag with your name, address and phone number to the part itself in addition to your shipping label. Your shipment is likely to get transferred to two or three additional trailers while in route and poorly packaged items may destroy the box and get separated from the shipping label. This is particularly true if you have multiple items in one container.
