Window felt
I am replacing the window felt on a 68 and can’t figure out how to attach the new pice. The old piece had little tabs that connected it to the trim piece that runs along the top of the door. The new piece doesn’t have any holes or tabs. The first picture is the front side of the old and new felt and the door trim where it attaches. The second picture is the back side of the old and new pieces and the door trim where the tabs were attached

Re: Window felt
Dean has OEM. $198 to $235 depending on the year of car. He had reproduction with tabs and at a better price but it has been OOS for some time.

Re: Window felt
Personal opinion here but 240$ plus shipping for windows felt is a bit much not to say ridiculous
You can buy high quality US made replacement felt for about 15$ for 18ft ( that’s enough to do 3 cars ) simply remove the old felt from the strip and use high quality upholstery glue or (the best kept secret) 3M plastic and emblem liquid adhesive and your done .
since you already bought the replacement pieces I would recommend either contact cement or the 3M plastic I mentioned

Would you know what dimension / PN of bulk felt to look for to match up with the OEM tab strip?
Thanks

Re: Window felt
i assume the best way would be gluing the metal backing that is on the new felt piece directly to the metal on the door trim piece or are you suggesting stripping the new felt from it’s metal backing and then gluing it to the old metal with the tabs?Pjackb wrote: Sat May 13, 2023 8:43 pm Personal opinion here but 240$ plus shipping for windows felt is a bit much not to say ridiculous

Re: Window felt
I didn’t see these listed. I looked under the interior trim category on his site but didn’t find it.

Re: Window felt
Yes metal to metal with contact cement or the 3M emblem adhesive , once fully cured it wont come apartjohnscf wrote: Sun May 14, 2023 9:21 am i assume the best way would be gluing the metal backing that is on the new felt piece directly to the metal on the door trim piece or are you suggesting stripping the new felt from it’s metal backing and then gluing it to the old metal with the tabs?
