Spray Adhesive Recommendations???

Hi all.
I am going to be doing my headrests and maybe a console or two, and I've done a quick search and found only bad things about 3M Spray adhesive.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good spray adhesive for 'doeskin' vinyl that I will be wrapping on the headrest back cover plate cover, as well as the new headrest vinyl. And if I do a console it will be that same 'doeskin' vinyl wrapping the console.

I used Weldwood “landau top & trim solvent type spray grade” adhesive. So far has been fine but I haven’t had the car out in the sun much. It’s not cheap & I think it only comes in gallons. Try local body or auto upholstery shop to see if you can buy the amount you need.

Thanks Pat! A gallon will definitely be too much, and I don't have a sprayer, so I was hoping for spray cans.

Through just a bit of research on the interwebs, most say that aerosol cans just aren't a good permanent solution.

So, maybe I'll look for some brush-on stuff...

I brushed mine, I also don’t have a spray gun.

Hf s small $15 spray gun , if it's thin able to spray sounds like it's small areas , 2 sided thin carpet tape might work

When I re-vinyled my upper door trims, I used 3M Super 77, which comes in a spray can. Used the same when I leather upholstered the center console.
Both have held up for at least 10 years.

FWIW, my wife used contact cement, 3M Super 77 spray adhesive, and double-sided carpet tape to install new vinyl and carpeting. After only a month or two, only the contact cement consistently held. Not sure if you need to saturate using the Super 77 or not.

Thanks Pat, I just bought exactly that. I had to go to my local greatest-hardware-store-in-the-world, because O'Reilly's and others don't sell that stuff in California. Yay California.

3M has some of the best adhesive on the market
But Like everything else you need to buy the right products for the task
3M 77 is not an automotive grade adhesive and doesn’t have the strength and composition required for the use in cars
3M 90 is a heavy duty high tact adhesive it will work in most car applications because of its high strength but not the best for foam , headliner etc.

3M 74 is what you want ,It’s 3M’s spray adhesive made specifically for upholstery and this is what I use for most my project it bonds to everything really well and is easy to work with

A good working tip with these is to let them gas out a bit before bonding the pieces together, especially when sticking carpet or vinyl to metal . What I usually do is spray the least porous surface and wait at least a couple minutes before sticking the pieces together for almost instant bond.

Also you should always wear a respirator working inside, those fume are pretty toxic until they gas out

Thanks for that. I was being a "cheapo" at the time, and cans of Super77 were being used daily at my workplace, so partials were plentiful.
Yes, work outdoors and let them tack up before introducing the two extremely sticky surfaces.
