Datsun Roadster Drive today. 3-17-23. 64 1500. 130 miles. Granite Falls Loop.
Beautiful Spring Like day. Sunny (filtered) and in the low 60's.
One of the better loops north along the Cascade Range foothills. Sultan - Granite Falls - Snohomish.
Met up with one of those lesser British cars. 1972 TR6.

Roadster Drive Today. 3-18-23. 64 1500. 101 miles. Clutch replacement and Enumclaw loop.
The last beautiful day of our Pre Spring weather. Sunny, warm, calm, Mid 60's.
First to the NWDE and DROPS clutch replacement workshop for Lachlan's 1600 roadster.
Lachlan and Todd did all the work while the rest of offered knowledge, parts, support and ate Pizza.
Then I drove a favorite short loop around Enumclaw with great views of Mt Rainier.

This last Saturday my son and I had a drive from the Hesperia, CA area to Willow Springs Raceway and back. A little over 80 miles, one way. The weather was clear and cold in the morning. The top was down and we dressed accordingly. We still froze. One of the reasons for the trip included a first, actually a number of them. First, Samuel had a turn at the wheel of the Datsun on a highway. Success on both issues. It's a car, yes with a stick. But he did a great job. The car is starting to make me forget the effort required to get it back on the road. First, I started with a mostly stock but mechanical used up garage queen.
The clutch slave cylinder and master cylinder were replaced. Not having any fluid in the system was the tell. The air pump was in place and frozen. The belt was in the boot. Every gasket that was supposed to hold back the oil it was responsible for had failed. The under carriage was never going to rust was a positive, right? The completely worn out front suspension was a great introduction to what might be used up, will lead to everything that is used up. Clue one, if the the grease boots are not brand new because you replaced them and the parts that they are attached to, pick a vendor you will be willing to support. Repeatedly.
But the car is running really well. Now that it has been set up with a distributor that has the early points curve and an electronic distribution system. The air injection system was removed and correctly sealed. The carbs were correctly set up, Thank you Eric! And most of the original 96 horse power are back under the bonnet.

Again, a successful road trip. Not having a working tachometer, a small detail that was never an issue. On the highway coming home, keeping up with the traffic.

Datsun Roadster Drive today. 3-22-23. 64 1500. 208 miles. Skagit Valley Daffodils.
A nice dry warm sunny day happened, so had to drive.
North to the Skagit Valley to see the daffodils. Not crowded. Good views of Mt Baker.
Tulips in 2-3 weeks and there will be a zillion tourists.

Yesterday I drove my Roadster to... the gas station. That's actually a big deal for me, as it's the first time I've started the car let alone drove it anywhere since the car accident back in late November. While it was just a short trip to my favorite Union 76 on the Puyallup Tribe reservation (cause their gas prices are about 30cents less) I was happy to find it's still a comfortable seat despite the two crushed vertebrae in my low back. The car ran well, the EFI was set a bit lean I noted, so I didn't romp on it... just enough to remind me of how much I love this car. Now, gotta slowly take on a few things I need to fix... a broken speedo and cable, getting the Isky cam cut down just a bit and swapped with the Racer Brown, and running the EFI tuning software a bit more to dial that in. I'm pretty slow at things, and crawling around on the ground is not easy, but I'm better that I was a month ago and hope to be progressing forward more as the weather improves my motivation. I have a (new to me) BMW X3 that will need some attention going forward (some difficult to do differential and transfer box mounts) but their not broken yet so I can get to them gradually (I hope!). Yeah!

Yesterday I drove my car to the gas station and got it inspected. Big deal for me. Haven't driven it since I dropped of seats at upholsterer Jan 6, 2022. Over 460 days. Ago. Finally got a seat from a garage and was able to fit it in. Drove over 50 miles today, most since I got the car in 2013. So all you in the process of rebuilding even after 10 years it can happen.

Picture orientation and size.

TobyMan, you are all sideways and underwater (upside down)
Here is my experience and solution.
I take my roadster pictures with my camera and for what ever camera gods reasoning, some end up reoriented from intended.
I then upload them to my laptop for the 311s posting.
If I edit them to the correct position in my laptop and add them to the posting they still come up wrong.
The original orientation is still saved and that is what the 311s photo software is using.
The solution in my case is to edit the pictures in the camera. The edited photo moved to my laptop is displayed properly by the 311s software.

And if you want to show nice BIG pictures, like Alvin and I, you need to move the picture to the cloud, Get the link and
place it in the posting between the link image Image

While driving home in the family SUV, 0n 15S from NOVA (northern Virginia) today, Friday, I caught a glimpse of a red Roadster (High windshield?) heading North on 15 in the Haymarket area. If the owner see's this post and contacts me, maybe I could stop in sometime when I am up there visiting our kids and g-kids! Always good to get together and visit other owners! Paul

Roadster Drive Friday. 4-14-23. 64 1500. To Index. 110 miles.
An infrequent PNW nice day so drove to Index in the Cascade Mts. east of Seattle.
One of my favorite short drives. All on back/side roads with no traffic.
It ends at a great view of mountains and the Skykomish river.
