Stock Wheel offset???
Hi,
My wheel are TOPY 7 68 4.5-Jx14S-3.2 (not sure after 3 has badly embossed)
Tires are 185/70r14 all 4 corners
Front:
Wheels wells: 40mm
Fender clearance: 0mm or -10mm
Rear
Wheel wells: -40mm
Fender clearance: 20mm
Did not check yet if any spacers installed by previous owner.
Anybody knows what stock wheel Offset is???
Thanks for feedback
Seb

Re: Stock Wheel offset???
For the ‘67+ models, the stock configuration was 5.60x14 with a -16mm offset (actually -15.875 if you want to be exact).

Re: Stock Wheel offset???
Labubre there are no Datsun with negative offsets
Stock wheel is a 4.5” with a 3.3125” backspace and overall width is 5.5”
To measure offset you subtract backspace from overall width then subtract the result form half the overall width
5.5”- 3.3125 = 2.1875
5.5 /2 = 2.75
2.75 - 2.1875 = 0.5625
0.5625 X 25.4 = 14.2875 mm
Thus offset is +14mm

Re: Stock Wheel offset???
Wait … Jack is correct. I made a mistake in the direction (Neg is outward - Pos is inward).

FYI - I took the measurements from my stock steel spare (with a tire mounted). Not sure where the 1.5mm difference in calculation may have come from. Perhaps from the piece of wood I used balanced across the rims edge to measure the backspacing or maybe just a mold variance in the rim itself (it’s not exactly what one would call a high quality rim)

Re: Stock Wheel offset???
Where is the wheel typically embossed with sizing? I’m not seeing anything on the front or back for one of my rims.
I’ve got a 67 1600 and I’m trying to determine if I have 4” or 4.5” wide rims. I just had 185/70/14 put on (based off another thread here) and the tire shop royally messed up one wheel and I need a replacement.
I’m thinking I have 4.5” as the 185s don’t look too out of place but I could be very wrong.

Thanks DAC21. Tire is still on the rim currently. I’ll see if I can get it pulled off this weekend and confirm.DAC21 wrote: Sat Jul 22, 2023 8:04 am

That listing says the 4” is for a 67. I’ve looked all over this site and google and can’t find a source that says what size width should be on a given year. Assuming maybe the 2000s got the 4.5”?

Re: Stock Wheel offset???
All 1600 and 2000's from 1967.5and up had 4.5 inch. 1967 had 4" like my own (unfortunately) That extra half inch really opens up tire size options that are available and safe.justin-311 wrote: Sat Jul 22, 2023 11:55 amThanks DAC21. Re: Stock Wheel offset???
Thanks for the clarification on years DAC21.
Swapped out the tire on the bad wheel and put it on the spare. The old wheel is a 4x14. Hoping my 185/70/14 tire choice is still ok. My driving is minimal and definitely not aggressive. At least I know what to order for a replacement.
