Picture re-sizing and complaints about posting pictures
Since I've seen way too many comments about members having issues posting pictures to this site, (number of pictures allowed not withstanding), I assume it is because they are struggling with the picture size issue. So, I thought I'd share this site.
Using this site, you can upload as many pictures at a time as you want, adjust the outcome as needed, hit start, and then get a zip file downloaded to your computer's download folder. As long as you can extract a zip file you can then save the much smaller pictures locally to your computer and then upload them easily to the 311s site. (I do not know if this can be done using a smartarse phone.)
I have no connection to this. I offer no guarantees. I will not be held accountable if anyone has any issues using this site. I have had no issues using this site and have been using it for well over two years. I hate the fact that I have to post a disclaimer but in this era of keyboardklowns, trolls, asshats, and karens, I have to do the CYA thing.

While I appreciate the tip. This still seems like a lot of hoops to jump through just to post some pictures. This forum is pretty archaic by today’s standards. I know I would use it more if it wasn’t such a pain. I imagine there are others with the same opinion as myself.

I've tried to post a picture for my profile for numerous years but they are to large. "I just gave up." You need to be a professional Photographer to understand the sizing requirement in taking a picture to post?

yes it is hard to post pictures. But we have no ads to deal with and my understanding is the only way the site is up is through donations and a few people doing maintenance. I am sure keeping the pic size to 500kb is to keep the storage low. maybe we can get a huge donor like nissan to front a more robust forum! love the site and I do need to donate. the site has been invaluable to me. the connections made and keeping my stoke high through some tuff times doing this resto has kept it from being a pile of parts for ever.

I have tried that picture re-sizer as shared by the OP. It works flawlessly and every picture I've resized has uploaded to this site with no issues.bobs19692L wrote: Mon Nov 21, 2022 7:21 pm I've tried to post a picture for my profile for numerous years but they are to large. I am sorry I did not mean to sound like i dislike the site. I love the information on it! it has been a lifesaver. Posting pictures of me being proud of the work(if you can call it that! hahaha) I put into the roadster is more time intensive then other sites, that is what I meant.

the bulk resizing web site that I shared above is seamless and always saves the created zip file in the same downloads folder on your computer. It is much easier than using what ever a windows computer has.

Agreed!! Thank you, Steve, for keeping this site available for all of us. That goes for everyone else who helps out and who donates. Which reminds me, it's probably time to donate again...Mochi wrote: Tue Nov 22, 2022 11:34 am love the site and I do need to donate. the site has been invaluable to me. the connections made and keeping my stoke high through some tuff times doing this resto has kept it from being a pile of parts for ever.

Re: Picture re-sizing and complaints about posting pictures
I wouldn’t say it’s hard to resize the images. Though, it certainly adds a step or two. That being said, it is free! The easiest hack is to email whatever picture you want posted to yourself. Before sending, gmail asks if you want it sent small, medium or large. Choose small. When you open the email you sent yourself, download the resized image, save and submit here. Adds a couple minutes, I know… it is what it is and it’s tough to screw it up

Microsoft Image Resizer App for Windows 10
I use the previous Windows 7 version, make a directory called Smaller in my photo directory and resize everything into that folder.
Regarding image posting and hosting... I was posting from my personal website host for years, and last year they started disappearing in old posts I went back to check on. Switched them to a Flickr account and people were telling me my pics weren't showing up in my Red Roadster build post. Not sure why they would disappear from two different hosts.
Any pics I post now are using the ATTACH feature in this UBB forum editor, it's clunky and difficult to arrange as it lumps them altogether, but at least they don't vanish anymore.
From my website:
