New project 68 in Santa Maria , Ca

Post by Larsb »

Hi fellow roadster folks. I’m trying to resurrect a 1600 project that hasn’t ran since 1985. Just re did the gas tank and working on the rear brake cylinders. It needs a windshield and radiator fan . The carbs, radiator and all hoses need to be put on the engine to run . Needs some bodywork and paint also.

Welcome, I'm also on the Central Coast, there are 5 or 6 roadsters in the area that I'm aware of. One or two down in your area. I got an email from you, but can't find it. Feel free to message me here if you need anything.

Thanks for having me on this forum! Glad to be on board! Right now I’m working on getting the brakes all done. I just removed the rear wheel cylinders and they are frozen. Any recommendations on new ones or the 510 units?

I would pick a vendor from our list and develop a relationship for the start of the required parts you will need. If you go down the path with 510 parts, there are a number of things that will have to changed. That said, your car might already have other than roadster components.

I had to change the hard line, the one on the differential, on my car for just that reason.

You might look into the cost/benefit/time difference between rebuilding your old cylinders, calipers, and master at someplace like Karp's vs buying all new ones.

Welcome to 311s! Be sure to spend some time perusing the Tech Wiki: http://www.311s.org/pmwiki-311/pmwiki.php
It is a treasure trove of useful information.

Also, check the registry for your VIN. There may be some info about your car, or if not you can add it. https://www.311s.org/registry/new/registryhome.html
