Captured Nuts Question

Post by Steve_69 »

I am ready to begin some metal replacement in the luggage area. Looking from the trunk, what are these 6 captured nuts for? I probably removed something from them, but that was 2 years ago and I am not getting younger. Thanks for any help.

Factory roll bar on the 4 on the right and If I remember correctly, the two close together are for the luggage strap.

We called( in the industry ) them - blind nuts , or one guy nuts
Because before them ...hey Joe climb under this car and hold the nuts on the bottom of the floor from spinning, like most MGs were
BTW captured nuts are the ones that had a cage welded with the nut free to slightly be able to move

Captive nuts, or when installed new, through-and-into-hole, rivnuts.
