Are the ARP usually that long on the R motors? I have them for my U20. You'll need a 12 point 1/2" socket for them. That is interesting that they are there. Impossible to know why they are there or if the gasket has already been done once or not though. You're making good progress!

I recall the guy saying they redid something, I thought it was the head gasket so they could've been added then. Thank you!

Day #3 update,
Sorry for the delay been feeling lazy lately but finally got the radiator and fan out, however there is still one pesky bolt/nut stripped combo holding that top rail on. Though I began taking out the rest of the headlight and fog light assemblies and how do you get the fog lights off? It looks like the screws to get them off were like welded over with tla cover or something.

Interesting use of a prescription medicine container as a carburetor overflow reservoir. That shouldn't have been necessary. Always fun to find the "fixes" that previous owners have created.
Did you get the stripped nut/bolt off yet? A cutting wheel will make quick work of it as long as a bit of the bolt shank is accessible. If you don't have an air compressor and die grinder, there are shanks available to use a cutoff wheel in a hand drill. Use a faceguard! Otherwise, it could be hacksaw time.

I see you started to remove the manifold nuts already. Recommend you do it in individual steps: Carbs - Heat Shield - Then Manifold last. Getting a set of short ratcheting wrenches will help a lot, especially with the lower carb and manifold nuts.
As for the steering box, you’ll have to remove the pitman arm first. Do a search on this site on how to do it … and prepare for an experience to remember

Yea I was kindve jumping around because I keep finding more and more stuck/stripped screws/nuts everywhere. A gear puller and some gentle heat helped pop my pitman arm right off.
Get your wife/GF whatever with the small arms/hands to help you with those underside nuts on the manifold if you take it off whole without removing the carbs and heat shield. It's actually not that hard, just really awkward. ...assuming the nuts aren't rusted on....
