Hello Everyone
I'm needing some technical info assistance to enable me to get my 65 Fairlady Roadster registered on our NATIS system here in South Africa
Would really appreciated if anyone has the Gross Axle Mass-load on the front and rear axles.
Thanking you in advance.
Chris

Re: Axle Load Mass
?, But GVW was around 700 - 800 lbs ( it was on 2dr Datsuns ) over VW
Do they think it's a PU ? As that relates to truck more than cars
400 each then

Re: Axle Load Mass
To get the car registered they require all the dimensional details including the gross vehicle mass and the weight distribution on the front and rear axles

The vehicle specifications are in the factory service manuals which you can download from the techwiki

It can be a bit difficult to find exactly what you’re looking for in the Wiki; I’ve included the relevant link for you below. No real changes affecting weight, measurements between ‘63-‘65 (one or two carbs, side seat vs. back shelf, side vent windows vs. fixed, badges and placement, etc.), so this “Introduction Service Bulletin†to the SPL310 should provide everything you might need for certification (incl. loaded/unloaded axle weights) - Download it for your viewing pleasure

Re: Axle Load Mass
Hi Chris,
Funny how different countries / regions have different reqts when licensing. Obviously, they are concerned as to overall road weight, but since the damage to public roads is commonly only related to heavy trucks, they are going to laugh at the numbers you turn in.
(what quality road has a roadster doing long term damage!!??)
Anyway, we don't know if you have a 1600 or 2000, but once they get the numbers, I don't think they are going to care much for accuracy.
General numbers quoted from back in the day was that a 2000 was 2080 lbs, and a 1600 was 1980 lbs. (that is wet, all topped up)
From a truck weigh station visit that we did with a V8 roadster a long time back:
The 2000 was 2100 lbs (I had just topped up at gas station).
Weight distribution was 55/45, F/R. (1160 on the front, 940 on the rear)
(note: add roll bar to the rear, and move battery to trunk, (60 lbs total) 1% additional shift to that end)
