early vs late r16 exhaust manifolds

Post by dynaguy »

I'm helping my stepson get his '67 on the road. Have sourced a good used exhaust system from a late model R16. The early exhaust manifold has a different mounting system. Can the late manifold interchange with the early one? See pics of early manifold and late exhaust flange mount. TIA Pat

The manifolds are basically the same, so swapping the late manifold on and then the head pipe, and you should be good.

Thanks Sid.......I figured you would have the answer. This is for my stepson's '67. He is doing a great job bringing it back to life! Pat

I'm always happy to help! Lots of people prefer the later manifold as they leak less.
