Side Trim Removal

New guy here.
Just picked up a 66. She runs but will need full restoration, needless to say, I will be asking for a lot of help here. I may have paid too much for her, but she seemed solid, with only surface rust. Now that I’ve had more time to check her out, I’m starting to fund rust. I still don’t regret getting her, I hope that don’t change.
Can someone please tell me or point me in the right direction.
I would like to remove the side trim, as I’ve noticed some screws have been rusted off and trim is loose. I would like to remove all trim to see how bad the rust is. The car is complete, has all original trims and I don’t want to damage them.

To remove the side trim, you will need to find all the nuts. You’ll find some in the trunk, in the door behind the glass, in the front fender well, etc. Try and find the correct size wrench or socket and hopefully they will come off without breaking. You can replace the clips if they break.

Welcome Victor.

There are tiny nuts on the backside and a couple interior panels will need to be removed to access some of them. Don’t be concerned if you end up breaking off a few of the little nuts whilst trying to remove them. This is common as they rust out easily.

If you bought a complete and running car you are well ahead of the curve! You can take a restore as you drive approach … which is always good. When it comes to classic cars, always buy the best that can be afforded to start, because the cost will only go up from there 😉
