I would buy one of these for your auto electrical testing needs , it makes it very easy to test circuitry beeps and lites up also you can tell if it's lower volts is computer safe as well.

This looks like the model I bought from a mobile tool dealer in the late 90s and it's still going , it uses your other hand touching to the body /ground, to lite ( has a micro chip that detects the current and small battery powered )
