Jeff's VQ35DE powered SRL

Post by Alvin »

Hoping Jeff will join the forum. He just shared these pictures with me and a video.

This is a 2005 Nissan 350z drivetrain in his 1969 2000. It is a twincam, 3.5L V6:

Talk about total sleeper! Stock hood too

Lessee, got me a 350Z... got me a roadster..... hmmmmmm..... literal engine swap.... hmmm....

The roadster would be really happy, not sure about the Z33 though.

But ya, that sounds ike a fun car!

For reference at the shop these VQ's are factory rated at 300hp, but dyno consistently in the 240-250whp range. My personal 2006 350z dyno'd at 249whp.
The later 2007-2008 VQ35HR models are the one to have, easy 300whp+ with I/C/E.

This is a swap I was gonna do one day!( have a VQ) pretty big trans though, I wonder if he did a major frame/tunnel hack or just pushed the engine as far forward as possible (vq’s are Pretty short) I was also thinking about a tubular frame in the engine comp because the stock roadster frame rises up on both sides making exhaust particularly inconvenient with the big V. Anywho, cool he did it, must be a rocket/prob handles great still too! Would like to see it some day.
