The hand throttle came out with the 67.5 models.

18mpg to 32! Well, I'd say that's a significant improvement! Reminds me of a proposal put out many years ago about how to reduce emissions and improve efficiency that offered free tune-ups etc to older cars that people owned but couldn't afford to fully maintain, or to buy out gross polluters with cleaner cars. Didn't go forward because some people didn't like others (who were unable financially to maintain the car but could still put gas in it to get around, etc) getting things for "free." Forget that it would have made a big difference...
