Was wondering how much it would cost to rechrome my rearview mirror?

Post by 111jag »

I'm visiting Nashville next Tuesday and was thinking of bringing my 67 Datsun's rearview mirror and getting it chromed. I live in Ontario Canada. Was wondering how much it would cost to do that in American dollars? Is it easy to remove the glass, or will it crack?

I would consider just buying a reproduction mirror from Dean. I got one a few years ago and they are nice.

datsunparts.com has full reproductions, $195 US + shipping. I bought one and it is superb. Or they have just the glass for $59 +shipping. Impossible to know how much it will cost to replate, each State has different regulations with unfortunately my State CA. being the worst that I'm aware of.

I have heard of a very reasonable and very good chrome shop in Mexico (fewer costly EPA regulations - shocker)... and I'm pretty sure even they would charge $195 or more to re-chrome. No glass.

I had my 67.5 rearview mirrors (glass) replaced (fender and dash) and each was $100 – just for the mirror part. Excellent job, but not inexpensive...

I think all of this points to Dean's being a really good option, in my opinion.

Just skip a cocktail or two in Nashville and you'll pay for the mirror! Have fun.
