Sorry if this seems like a question that's been asked before at first glance, but after several pages of search results, I've yet to find an answer.
I'm replacing the switch on my 1970 1600. I'm trying to remove the old one, and I can't seem to figure it out. I removed the screws on the driver's side that seem to clamp it to the column, but it doesn't want to come out. I see a circlip that goes around the shaft, do I need to remove it to get the switch out, or is that related to the steering and not the switch?
I also saw some mention of a set screw opposite the handle of the switch, I not only don't see it, but I don't even see a hole for it. Is there one I'm not seeing?

I didn’t see any answers to this and having the same difficulty for a 68. I’ve removed the circlip but it still seems like the body of the turn signal is hitting something when I try to slide it off? Re: 1970 Turn Signal switch removal and replacement
There are three philips screws you need to loosen the remove the switch assembly. The two that tighten the clamp on the column,
and the one screw that locates the switch assembly to the column. It might be hidden by wires on the stalk side of the column.
Then it should slide off.
Hope this helps.

Oh and yes I have a 69 with a flat dash conversion and I used the original switch.
