Interchange parts?

Post by DatsunBucky »

I was looking at the "Z Store" on the internet, and came up with some questions, particularly in relation to the R engine.

Are the clutch assemblies the same? Pilot bearings? Flywheels?

Can we use R-180 diffs? R-200 diffs? Or are those just for the Zs and 510s? Can we use the internals from these diffs?

Actually I was on the 'net looking for Quaife LSDs, but the link on quaifeusa.com goes nowhere. Ditto quaifeamerica. There is a clickable link, but nothing happens.

I'm really just looking for different sources for Roadster parts. Please excuse me if these questions have been asked before, but I don't remember seeing them. CRS clicks on once in a while.

BTW, I looked in the parts interchange section here, but didn't see what I was looking for.

Bucky,

About the only part you can use from a Z that you mention there is the pilot bushing. It the same one used in our roadsters. Lots of time and money and you could probably get more parts to fit!

Parts interchange

I found a clutch master cylinder that works. You need to pop the pedal mounting rod off the old one as the Z one is too long. Cost me $36 for a new one. It was even a 5/8, bolted right up and works fine.

Clutch master

The one I have is for a 71 240z. I think it is made by sanyco. I got it through a local british car part place, but Napa should be able to get one that will work.

Thanks, do you think that will work for the 67 1600?

Clutch master

Mike, it should work. You might have to use your old cap for it as well. Make sure its a 5/8 and use the old actuator rod and you should be good to go.

Hey! Thanks for the info. I think we're all always looking for ways to spend less money but get the same results/performance.

Several years ago when we had an auto parts store right across from work I picked up a clutch master from something. I never did find out what it was from. It was not a roadster part though. I changed out the plunger for the roadster one and had to cut a bit off of the resevouir for the hood to close. It must have been from a Z car. So it sounds like I can safely add Z clutch master with minor modifications to the parts interchange list.

Master Cylinder

I just swaped the plunger out and switched caps, The one that mine came with was domed and hard plastic, so I put my old one on and my hood closed. The plunger swap takes about 10 minutes (less if you have the right tools).

The window cranks from an early 240z are the same as the hard to find 70 roadster ones (surclip style)...for anybody who cares!

Part interchange

Post by SLOroadster »

I have another! I replaced my clutch slave last night and the part that I found is a Raybestos #. Its SC37213. Fits perfectly, everything bolts right up. I bought it at the local Parts Plus store for about $32.

I said it before and I'll say it again: "Thanks for all the input". Anything I come up with I'll post here.

I added the two new items to the parts interchange list. Interior Z handles and the clutch slave. Thanks.
