Darn U Bolts

Post by zetec311 »

I read so far nobody likes off-the-shelf u bolts availible from the auto parts stores.. i dont quite understand or recall why. (i had a bad experience with the local leaf spring guy.. dont want to go back to him)

Was at AutoZone, saw a set that seem to match up okay in size n shape. Before I buy and attempt to put them on.. can somebody clarify if it will suffice.

it measured 7/16” dia, 2-1/2”, 6.5” length (7” actual)

another question, others have replaced the nuts with grade 8 ones, if the ubolt isnt rated the same.. does the rating just default to the lowest part in the assembly? or was it replaced with nylock ones? Thanks ahead of time :)

Just tried the 7/16th and they are too big. Wonder what the stock diameter / thread is?

Take your set to another spring shop and they will be able to make you whatever you want... at least mine did, in like 10 minutes.

You'll need 3/8. If you cant show your face at the local shop, go here. I had good service.

https://www.uboltsdirect.com/

What I bought, but keep in mind it was for an rx7 rear end, but using original brackets and springs etc. But do your own measurements.
(5T38-2.5-R) R05 - 3/8" x 2 1/2" Inside Width $4.50 X 4 = $18.00
(5T3814) (Length: 5 7/8")
