1970 SPL scrap rescue, widebody, blown v6 swap

Post by Btbarratt »

This poor girl had been rolled I think, driven around a farm till the head gasket went, and parked in a barn for decades. I originally bought it for the frame and title, but finding little rust I decided it was the perfect black canvas for an idea I've had kicking around since high-school.

Also I blame early childhood exposure to hot-wheels for what came after.

The quarters and rear panel were destroyed, so off they came. Alot of push and pull later, the fiberglass fenders were rough mounted. Also a donated rear panel and trunk lid from the old Formula Roadster.
Turns out, my race car fiberglass came off of Mike Poorboys old car...

Next, my collection of buick/ pontiac parts contributed a 3800 v6, t5 trans and a m90, later a m112 blower from a lightning pickup.

Actually fit pretty good with a firewall/ tunnel massage.

Other highlights include a Tilton pedal assembly, speedhut gauges in a work in progress custom dash, ms3pro-evo Ecu and pmu16 pdm, aeromotive intank pump, 8.8 rear axle.

That's where I'm at now. Hope to drive it this summer.
I'll update this thread as I go.

A great rescue from the scrap yard, and it looks like a model for a Hot Wheels Limited Edition in progress!
Please keep us posted, and YouTube it when you fire it up.
