stock alternator mounting
Does anyone have a picture of the stock alternator mounting (on the carb side)?

Re: stock alternator mounting
I just relocated mine to the passenger side on my 2000, but maybe this picture will help. The bottom mounts to the bracket attached to the motor mount and the top curved adjustment bracket bolts to the stud coming out of the water pump (red arrow). Don’t know if the 1600 is the same.

Re: stock alternator mounting
Simon (2mAn) posted a pic during his build of the original left side brackets he removed (below). Add that to Mike’s pic above and you have a pretty good idea of what the setup should look like. I think most have (eventually) switched sides when replacing the Alt just to keep it cooler and more accessible since the adapter kit is pretty cheap.

Re: stock alternator mounting
Best pic I could find with enough ‘parts’ removed so you can actually see the stock bracket in place.
