Solid State Voltage Regulator

Post by DAC21 »

Wondering if there are any Solidstate VR's out there available with the OEM oversized yellow cadmium look? Rallye shows one made in the USA, but of course they are not taking orders.

Thanks

Pretty sure RockAuto has it but you can never be 100% sure if what is shipped is what is in the photo.

Thanks, plenty of the VR121 around, but all suppliers are parroting the same specs. I don't see mention of "solid state" anywhere??

The early to mid 80s 240 series Volvo used a brushes pack had it built in and bolted on the back for 50$ then , seemed it could be adapted to me
After 76- 1978 - 80 ? the old style regs were phased out
There's an older post on IC regulator

Aren't they all solid state now-days? I don't think you'll find one with the old school adjustable relays in them. I could be wrong. Haven't cracked on open in a while.

He's talking about installing a I C voltage Reg on his 311
instead of the mechanical type
Still need it for the brake lite though ,( and charging lite) otherwise how would you know your brakes just failed ?

Now that I think about it you are probably right for new VR's. I saw a lot of NOS on eBay that is old relay tech. And Danns site threw me a bit, he referenced about still getting in mechanical relay versions now and then. That comment that he wrote could well have been from 15-20 years back.
