Is Rallye Still Open for Business?

Post by Ivan D Bagski »

Does anyone know if Rallye is still in business?

I've emailed Rallye four times in November and December but haven't gotten a response. I even tried phoning them, but the message says they're only doing email now. I'd like to get some parts from them, but I haven't gotten a response. I'd like to use them because I used them in the past and they were quite helpful.

The lack of response to my emails makes me wonder if Rallye is still operating.

I have heard 2nd hand Dann has checked out. 40+ years in the business, he deserves a retirement. I was told his Wife was working the orders but I think it's taxing on her (speculation) I too, first hand, have not been able to get an email order fulfilled and stopped trying in Oct.(order form was correctly filled out to a "T") They initially responded immediately to my order but were headed out on vacation in late Sept. to be fulfilled in early Oct. (crickets since with a couple follow ups on my part). Surely Dann is sitting on many many tens of thousands of dollars of inventory. Hoping it finds a home eventually. Meantime IMO he should post on the Website the status of the Business, but what do I know.

Dan was the first person I ever contacted about my car when I first found it so many years ago. I TYPED him a LETTER, requesting his catalog and some "clarification" on an issue I saw on my title... namely that I thought the 2000 model started in 1968, but my title said 1967. He wrote back a short time later, and he was the first person to tell me that I may have "a rare car" if it had a low windshield, low SRL serial number and that it matched the frame. He was a part of me getting that very "exciting" (huh... what, me? A rare car?!") news, and me checking out the car and discovering and confirming SRL311 00588. I felt so lucky. I loved the car no matter what, but for it to be a bit more special was just icing on the cake.

I hope the very best for the folks at Rallye. They saved stuff when nobody saw a U20 engine as anything more than a boat anchor (per a Datsun parts guy I once encountered). I hope they are working with someone to ultimately end up driving off into the sunset...

No luck with email either - I was just trying to get a copy of the Owners Guide/Tech Insert #999-IN (Catalog Insert).
Too bad really.

I’d assume someone here has an extra. They’re surprisingly common.

Order that was fulfilled? Or just correspondence?

Tens of thousands? Try millions. Someone needs to come along and buy us old guys all out before it all gets scrapped. There are about 5 guys selling roadster parts that are approaching 70 or over 70. Ross told me he scrapped a bunch of parts. I'm sure Ross would welcome being purchased. That person that is smart enough to do a group buy would become the Moss Motors of the Datsun community. Just my opinion. Dean
When you see a lined out higher price next to our lower price, that is someone else sale price! 2981 active parts 2025 Inventory piece count- 10,155 parts on hand! "Shop A Movie" at our web-site

There is a previous thread about Dann at Rallye, where this has been discussed. For me, through Dann, Dean and Paul, I have been fortunate to get my roadster to the point it is, running, licensed and insured. It is to the point of needing some bodywork and paint and I do need to get a few more parts.
I am sure the actual number of roadsters out there needing parts is not as big as it used to be.
To my knowledge Dann is not communicating or actively looking for a buyer, so the parts just sit, that is the frustration.
My 2 cents worth.

70 is the new 50. If a 79 year old can run a country, you can keep running a car parts business for a while. And you're probably not even crapping your pants yet.
