Post by williecnote »

Does anyone have a picture of where the temp sending unit is located on a 69 SRL311?

All of them are located where the upper radiator hose connects to the engine, at the head.

Right.
Single wire connection right at the “knuckle” of the coolant flow elbow on passenger side of the head.
It depends on the elbow gasket having a staple in the rubber to provide the ground.

Sorry for the irreverence, but I always preferred a numeric approach to knowing engine temp, so I got a triple gauge set (Equus) from AutoZone and it turned out it came with like 16 adaptors, and one of them was perfect threads.

So I now run an alternate, secondary gauge. This also allowed me to run a voltmeter as well as an ammeter. (My crude brain understands this better. Me and electrons never saw eye-to-eye.)
