Well the oem seats are ok, but on long drive your butt goes numb.
The foam squib was shot

Okay, after much delay with the bushings, I finally have one side done.

I just need to get that tiny upper bump stop installed, but its a pesky little piece.

Odd thing, in my bag of control arm to chassis bolts, I had 2 shims. One is square, one is like a fork. I can only assume they were on the car at this point, but I don't remember them

Did the same restoration early this year. Time consuming but needed. After wire brushing all crud off every nut and bolt, I found a few critical bolts which had been way over torqued to the point they wee on the verge off failure

So despite the sweat and labor, your gratified to have prevented a serious issue later once the car is reassembled

Been cleaning up more suspension parts




Getting it assembled



Took apart the leaf springs. The amount of rust in between was nuts


Been cleaning them up for coating. Also got the bushing pressed out, I think it was ready to be replaced.


Only thing left to do in the front is the drag bar, but the jam nuts and end links are, well, jammed. Still working on getting that taken apart.

Fun Stuff! I always found it really rewarding to see before and after. Every once in awhile I pull out the original pics I took of the car 36 years ago and re-live that adventure. Have fun!

Make sure you replace the slippy slidey plastic spacers between the first couple of leaves. That nasty factory’horse hair’ lump of stuff just traps dirty, grit and mud that eats the leaves.

You mean the circular discs at the each of of a leaf? Or do those go in the center?

All these had were the discs.

Yep . Those nasty discs. They trapped gunk and pitted me leaf springs.
I purchased a set of the ‘new and improved’ plastic ( maybe made of thick PLA 3D printer plastic?). They should do the trick.
After getting this thing back together ( I hope) , I’m not driving it in the rain - a garage Queen in the making - for sure

Water less hand cleaner is your friend.

Sorry for the late update, free time to work on the car ebbs and flows.

Spent time stripping the rear axle assembly:


Not pictured is replacing the seals and gaskets


Doing some poking and prodding, I learned I have more rust than expected. Bought a patch panel, just need to practice up on welding some more


After all those months blasting parts, powder coating and painting, its time for the puzzle of reassembly:


Its starting to look like a car again!
