If it wasn't for the high windshield, I would've bet that was all because of the shiny chrome trim...

The reason why Nissan had to "dechrome" the interior of the car was for safety reasons... the chrome flash could blind you while driving. In the 67.5 cars, they dechromed the ashtray, windshield surround and wing windows, as well as instruments and other panels. The joke has been about how "dangerous" all the shiney chrome was!

Nope. I had to look it up to see what it was.
