Just painted Need interior pieces

Post by Spitzs1600 »

Hi yall Happy Halloween! I will be getting back my painted body and I have been looking for any off the shelf red interior. Found some late model items on ebay but nothing for my 66 and don't like the red looks more like burgundy. Is there anything original stuff or repro items available? Also I have noticed that there are some short window early cars that have sun visors my car does not. Is there a way of converting my wind frame to fit some sun visors?

Welcome!
Might want to grab your morning coffee and check out the ‘Vendor List’ link above. Lots of OEM, reproduction and restoration parts/services available from multiple sources that should help you along - I’m sure they can help find just about anything for the roadsters you might need. As for the visors, they weren’t introduced until the ‘67.5 model year on the low-windshield version. That being said, adapting to a ‘66 should be as easy as getting the parts off a ‘67.5

Welcome to the family Allan/Spitzs 1600! We look forward to hearing more about your car. As Kai said, your best source is to search through all our great vendors... they really are a wonderful resource for all of us, and we're very fortunate to have them all. Any and all questions are welcome here, and this is a very supportive group.

I've been on 311s for years, but am just joining a forum for BMW Z3 owners, as my wife has one and I'm doing some work on it and need help. I know again what it's like joining a new forum, and I hope they are friendly as folks are here. Pretty spoiled by this bunch :D

Welcome aboard Allan. I don’t think that you will find many off the shelf color options, but you can always dye whatever you find. Short of that I think you are looking at custom. As Kai mentioned, go to the quick links in the upper left of this page and click on vendors. Check them all because some have a much better website than others, but all are trusted supplier’s.

I don't have spare visor bits, but do have a top windshield frame piece from a 67.5

The main manufacture of the Interior Kits is a company called Distinctive Industries. There kits are supplied via the vendors listed on this site (See Vendor Area).

The company does make their kits in a color called Carmine Red (Deeper red), which is similar to what was used in '66. However, I believe they also may have availability in Red, as well.

Allan,

We carry the red in stock that is more deeper red in color, probably like what you've seen, We can also make the kit special for you. Select the colors you want and supply the number from below.

I love our vendors and this group. I'm trying to solve a door lock issue on my wife's Z3, but so far not a lot of info. Wouldn't think that a door lock would be that big a deal, but of course, it's a BMW, and a much more complicated car with electronic locks and multiple things that can run off a central locking system.
